What We Do... and Why We're Unique

Independent Actuaries, Inc., is an employee-owned consulting firm specializing in the design and administration of defined benefit retirement plans and offering other actuarial services.

While we are tempted to say that we are most proud of our level of technical expertise --  because it is truly exceptional in the field -- what really sets us apart is our customer service.

Our consultants like working at Independent Actuaries, and it shows.  Our clients can expect prompt, helpful service and personal attention to any questions they may have. Ask us, and you can see for yourself.  To learn more, visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Who We Are

Our staff of 16 includes ten actuaries and consultants, achieving a combined total of over 100 years of actuarial and defined benefit experience.  Meet our consultants through their profiles.

Our Clients

Many of our defined benefit retirement plan clients are professional firms or small businesses with 1 to 25 employees.  These businesses are generally owned by someone over age 45 who wants to maximize both the company's tax deductions and his or her personal retirement income.  For these types of  businesses, a defined benefit retirement plan is usually far superior to a 401(k) or other defined contribution retirement plan.

We service plans for all types of businesses, including sole proprietorships. Any type of business, including a sole proprietorship, can sponsor a defined benefit plan, which may offer deductions many times greater than in any other kind of plan.

We do larger plans and other kinds of plans, too.  We are proud to count among our clients several larger defined benefit  plans having up to 2,000 participants. And while we specialize in defined benefit plans, we also set up and service defined contribution and hybrid plans for our clients.

Contact us if you would like a list of client references.
